Spire Founder – Can you tell us about your background and how you came to be the CEO of Treebo Hotels?

Sidharth – I am a computer science graduate from IIT Roorkee and hold an MBA from IIM Bangalore. Before founding Treebo, I worked with McKinsey & Company and Myntra.com. While at Myntra, I got the opportunity to work with the founders and help build the company into one of the leading online fashion retailers in India.

The experience helped me understand the nuances of building a consumer brand and gave me the confidence to start something of my own.

Spire Founder – What inspired you to start Treebo Hotels and what are your core values as a company?

Sidharth – Treebo was started with the vision of creating a trusted and affordable hotel brand for the new-age Indian traveler. I have personally experienced the pain points of staying in unclean, poorly-maintained hotels, and we wanted to build a brand that would solve those problems.

Our core values as a company are centered around the customer, and we believe in creating memorable experiences for them through reliable and consistent service. We also place a strong emphasis on transparency, integrity, and ethical business practices.

Spire Founder – Can you talk about the biggest challenges you have faced while running Treebo Hotels and how you overcame them?

Sidharth – One of the biggest challenges we faced in the early days was getting our name out there and establishing credibility as a brand. We had to work hard to build partnerships with OTAs and build a strong online presence to establish ourselves as a player in the market.

We also had to navigate regulatory hurdles and build a scalable business model that would be profitable in the long term.

Spire Founder – What sets Treebo Hotels apart from other hotel chains in India?

Sidharth – There are several things that set us apart from other hotel chains in India. Firstly, we are a technology-driven company that uses data to improve the guest experience. We have built an in-house technology platform that enables us to provide a seamless, hassle-free experience for our guests.

Secondly, we are a value-driven brand that offers high-quality service and amenities at an affordable price point. We also place a strong emphasis on cleanliness and hygiene, and have a dedicated Quality Assurance team that ensures our hotels meet our high standards.

Spire Founder – What is your strategy for expanding Treebo Hotels in India and internationally?

Sidharth – Our primary focus right now is on expanding our presence in India. We are looking to deepen our footprint in existing markets and expand into new ones. We are also exploring opportunities to enter into new segments such as vacation rentals and serviced apartments.

In terms of international expansion, we are keeping a close eye on markets that are similar to India in terms of travel patterns and consumer preferences.

Spire Founder – Can you talk about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Treebo Hotels and how you have adapted to the new normal?

Sidharth – The pandemic has had a significant impact on the hospitality industry, and Treebo has not been immune to its effects. However, we have adapted quickly to the new normal and have implemented a number of measures to ensure the safety and well-being of our guests and staff.

We have implemented rigorous cleaning and sanitization protocols across all our hotels, and have also introduced contactless check-in and check-out processes to minimize physical contact. We have also launched a number of initiatives to support our hotel partners, including financial assistance and training programs.

Spire Founder – What do you think is the future of the hospitality industry in India, and how is Treebo Hotels preparing for it?

Sidharth – The future of the hospitality industry in India is bright, and we see a lot of opportunities for growth and innovation.

We believe that there will be a shift towards more personalized, technology-driven experiences, and we are investing heavily in our technology platform to stay ahead of the curve.
