How to pick the best Mega Millions numbers for the next jackpot

The Mega Millions lottery has a jackpot of $395 million for the next drawing on Friday, Dec. 8. If you want to try your luck, you might want to check out these charts, updated after each drawing, that show which numbers have a better chance of being drawn.

The charts are based on two factors: how often each number has been drawn in the past two years, and how long it has been since each number was last drawn. The idea is to look for numbers that are either overdue or underdrawn, meaning they have not been drawn as frequently or as recently as expected.

For example, among the white balls, which range from 1 to 70, the number 58 has not been drawn for more than six months, making it the most overdue number. The number 34 has only been drawn seven times in the past two years, making it the most underdrawn number. Both numbers could be good candidates for the next drawing.

For the yellow Mega Ball, which ranges from 1 to 25, the number 10 has not been drawn for more than a year, making it the most overdue number. The number 5 has only been drawn six times in the past two years, making it the most underdrawn number. Both numbers could also be good candidates for the next drawing.
However, there is no guarantee that these numbers will be drawn, as the lottery is a random game of chance. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302.6 million, regardless of which numbers you pick. The only way to improve your odds is to buy more tickets, which could cost you millions of dollars.
Another thing to keep in mind is that some numbers tend to repeat in consecutive drawings, even though it seems unlikely. In the past two years, the same white ball has been drawn in back-to-back drawings 16 times, and the same Mega Ball has been drawn in back-to-back drawings 11 times. So you might want to avoid picking the numbers from the previous drawing, or include them in your selection.

The Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. ET. You can pick five white balls and one Mega Ball, or let the computer choose for you. If you match all six numbers, you win the jackpot. If you match some of the numbers, you can win smaller prizes. The jackpot grows until someone wins it. Good luck!
